                        A consumers dispute redressal forum is known as Dist. consumer forum established by the State Govt. in each district by specific notification.

 

The consumer forum for Dhenkanal District was established in the year 1994 consisting of three persons out of whom one is president and two members. Out of two members of the forum one must be a woman one.

 

                       

                        The District consumer forum shall have jurisdiction to entertain complaints where the value of goods or services and the conpensation, if any, claimed does not exceed Rs. 5 lakhs. Complaints of its own jurisdiction can be filed in the Dist. forum and the opposite party/ company should have worked for its own gain.

 

                        Taking into account of the previous years about 150 to 200 complaints are being disposed of in the Dist. Consumer forum, Ddhenkanal. Any case filed in the Dist. Consumer forum must be disposed of within two years of the date of filing.

 

    4.LEGAL CELL : (Ph.No.224676)

 

            The District Legal Cell is known as “Legal Services Authority, Dhenkanal which is functioning in the office of the District Judge, Dhenkanal. The District Judge, Dhenkanal is the Chair person of the Cell and the Registrate, Dhenkanal is the Secretary of this legal services Authority. Any Citizen comes under the perview of rules and regulations specifically notified in this respect can file application for legal Assistance from the Legal Services Authority. The qualifications of such poor citizen have been codified in Oriya at P.Ss. , Collectorate and in the courts which is enclosed herewith.

            The District Dhenkanal consists of 11 Police Stations manned by Sub-Inspectors who is designated as O.I.C. except Town P.S.,Ddhenkanal. Town P.S.,Dhenkanal is manned by  one Inspector designated as IIC. There are 13 Out Posts manned by ASIs as I/C of the  O.P. They have to perform their duty under the direction and Supervision of their concerned O.I.Cs. The Dist. Police Station have been surrounded by the Districts namely Angul, Keonjhar, Jajpur and Cuttack. The District Police Hdqrs. Is functioning at Dhenkanal Town.
